I have been toying with the idea for ages, but obviously am unsure about whether to go for it. Has anyone else done this?

Maybe you and your parnter should try sorting out your relationship first, before having the idea of sleeping with someone else. And if it doesn't work, then you need to seriously think about breaking up. You may not be ready to leave the relationship. But it is not fair on the other person to sleep with someone else because you're 'bored' or whatever.
